Frequently Asked Questions
As an adult, what ID do I need to provide?
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, we are required to confirm my client’s identity with a valid government issued ID. This can be a driver’s licence, a concealed carry licence, a texas offender card; as a general rule of thumb, if it has your name, your picture, and your date of birth and is issued by a trusted source, we’ll take it. Pictures of the ID won’t work. It needs to be physically presented at the time of the piercing.
As a minor, what ID do I need to provide?
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, we are required to confirm my minor client’s identity, the minor’s guardian’s identity, and the custodial relationship between the two. Most commonly, this means ID on the kid, ID on the parent, and the kid’s birth certificate. School issued IDs and yearbooks will work. Custodial documentation will be considered, but it needs to be signed by a judge and clearly name all the parties. Texas is uptight when it comes to poking holes in minors.
How old do I have to be to get a piercing?
While we trust parents to know what is best for their child, there are some legal and developmental issues we need to address. First and foremost is consent. We want the child to be an active participant in the piercing and its healing process. Usually we want the child to be at least 10 years old and can express to us that they want this. For younger than that, we recommend a consultation and we better be impressed by the kids’ maturity. Of course, genital, nipple, and oral piercings are only for 18+. Yes, we have been asked. No, we won’t do it.
What about the jewelry?
If you bring in your own jewelry, we will look at it, but don’t get your hopes up. We are picky when it comes to jewelry we trust to be put inside our clientele. Our starter jewelry is all hypoallergenic implant-grade titanium. Once the piercing is healed, then go crazy, but let’s start you off with something safe.
Will this hurt?
Yes.
